Further to H&SW Regulations 1999 5(1), LBB Officers are authorised to monitor and inspect preventative and protective measures relating to the contractor’s Health & Safety compliance.
Officers are also authorised to instruct the Contractor (management and/or employees) if a breach of regulations or good practice is observed. Such activity may comprise routine, planned inspections or unplanned ad hoc inspections as part of other client activity.
Inspections may relate to service delivery or the management/supervision of the service. If there are no issues, simply record a ‘nil’ report. If issues are identified, please tick ‘fail’. Officers should instruct the contractor’s management and/or staff and note what corrective action is advised and whether it is taken.
Reports should be submitted at the end of each month for compilation. Data shall be reviewed by the appropriate management team and also at each E&CS H&S Committee meeting to improve compliance.
