Pension Credit is a Government support scheme that gives those eligible extra money to help with living costs. The support is for those over State Pension age and on a low income. You may be eligible for Pension Credit even if you have other income and savings, or you own your own home, and this support is separate from your state pension.
Winter Fuel Payments
Government changes to Winter Fuel Payments mean that households will no longer be entitled to the Winter Fuel Payment unless they receive Pension Credit or certain other means-tested benefits.
Winter Fuel Payments are usually paid in November or December and those who are eligible should get a Government letter confirming how much they will get in October or November.
Residents must apply for Pension Credit by 21 December to be able to receive the Winter Fuel Payment for this winter.
