The NHS and a number of charities provide a range of services to support members of the armed forces and veterans, and we have listed some on this page.
When registering with your local GP make sure to let them know your armed forces background. All veterans are entitled to priority access to NHS hospital care for any condition related to their service, regardless of whether they receive a war pension.
Government support
Defence recovery and personnel recovery centres provide treatment and support for wounded, sick and injured service personnel.
The Battle Back programme is a sport and training programme for wounded, injured and sick personnel from across the Armed Forces.

NHS Health Check is a health check-up for adults aged 40 to 74 designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type two diabetes and dementia.

Combat Stress is a 24-hour mental health helpline for:

Hidden Wounds from Help for Heroes provides free and confidential psychological wellbeing advice and support to eligible veterans and their families.
Walking with the Wounded's Head Start programme provides 1-2-1 private therapy for ex-service personnel with mild to moderately severe mental health difficulties.
