Sensory Support Service (hearing and visual Impairment)
Sensory Support Service offers advice and support at home and in the pre-school settings to families who have a child with a visual or hearing impairment. The service runs baby sign and baby play sessions at Griffins which parents/carers can bring their pre-school children to as well as the use for the sensory room for the development of vision.
Provides a diverse range of groups and services aimed at supporting independence and empowerment to those who are hard of hearing.
It is the largest charity in the UK tackling hearing loss and making hearing matter. RNID offers a range of services for deaf and hard of hearing people and provide information and support on all aspects of deafness, hearing loss and tinnitus
Breakdown assistance for deaf drivers
Deaf people can now use the emergency roadside telephones operated by the Highways Agency if they breakdown on the motorway. The phones connect directly to a Highways Agency operator who will initiate text mode - allowing them to text the caller, and the caller to answer yes or no using the tick and cross buttons.
