The following notice has been issued by the retailer (it was emailed and posted to known customers):
We are writing to alert you to a quality control issue with Chablis Jean Bourguignon 2011 which according to our records you recently purchased from us.
A very small percentage of bottles have been identified when tested as containing elevated levels of sulphites which could pose a health risk for certain people including asthmatics and those with allergies. As a precautionary measure, we have decided to instigate a recall of the batch affected.
The batch arrived in our stores from 15 March 2013. The lot number of the affected batch is LA64526. This lot number is clearly printed on the yellow screwcap of the bottles (see image) and also on the boxes.
Could we please ask that you check the lot number on your bottles and return any bottles with lot number LA64526 to your local Majestic store where we will issue a full refund or replacement with the new 2012 vintage. Alternatively if you would like us to collect the wine, please contact us on the number below.
We would like to offer our apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.
