Risk description
The product presents a medium risk of choking as both the individual balls and sticks were found to be small enough to fit completely into a small parts cylinder and as such, would be regarded as capable of causing a choking hazard for a child under 3 years of age. If two or more magnets are swallowed, there is a risk that the magnets become drawn to each other in the digestive system, which could cause serious injury or death if rapid medical attention not sought. When tested, eight of the magnetic cylinders sampled were found to have a magnetic flux index greater than 50kG2mm2 with an average index of 169.7 kG2mm2. The product was CE marked but does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Corrective measures
The product has been voluntarily withdrawn from the market and recalled from end users.
