As Bromley celebrates the 60th anniversary this year, the Mayor completed a special walking challenge around the boundary of the borough to raise money for the Mayor’s charities. The 60 mile challenge included over 50 miles around the boundary of the borough as well as the Whittington Walk with other London Mayors. The boundary walk saw the Mayor and Mayoress travel from Crystal Palace down to Biggin Hill, then from Biggin Hill to St Mary Cray, and a final leg back from here to Crystal Palace.
You can still get involved by sponsoring the Mayor and to support any of his charities for the year:
Sponsor the Mayor in aid of Bromley Youth Music Trust
Sponsor the Mayor in aid of Welcare in Bromley
Sponsor the Mayor in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK
The Mayor is also encouraging residents to explore the borough for the 60th anniversary, including the thriving local history and expansive green spaces.
You can find the Mayor's boundary challenge route on the Strava app. Five town centre walks will also soon be available for residents. These walks will celebrate the borough’s history by linking the five town halls of the District and Urban councils which came together in April 1965 to form the London Borough of Bromley, with a further walk being made available in Biggin Hill to better allow residents in the south of the borough to get involved.
