The Mayoral charities for 2024 to 2025

Each year the Mayor selects charities to support during their time in office, both by promoting them and by raising funds. In 2024 to 2025, The Mayor of Bromley Councillor Dr David Jefferys has chosen Welcare, Alzheimer’s Research UK, and Bromley Youth Music Trust. There will be opportunities to donate and support at events throughout the year.

Welcare in Bromley

Welcare in Bromley works with parents and children up to the age of 13 years in Bromley. They strive to empower families and change lives for the better, offering practical and emotional support to overcome challenges. The children and families they support face difficult situations due to domestic abuse, parental conflict, emotional well-being issues, social isolation or the challenges caused by loss of income and the cost of living crisis.

Alzheimer’s Research UK

Almost one million people are living with dementia today. Tragically, not one of them will survive. Alzheimer’s Research UK exists to change that. As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, they work to revolutionise the way they treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. And then, they will find a way to cure it. To do this, they are investing in the best research, powering the most forward-thinking scientists and joining forces with world-class organisations.

Bromley Youth Music Trust (BYMT)

Bromley Youth Music Trust is a charity which works with 12,000 children, young people and adults each year in schools and community music centres across the borough. Activities include: instrumental/vocal lessons; choirs; keyboard and ukulele groups; bands; samba drumming; orchestras and musical theatre productions. Through these activities children build friendships, gain confidence, and develop lifelong skills such as teamwork and communication which will help them in whatever path they take in the future.

They ensure that every child can benefit from the transformative power of music, regardless of their financial situation and support more than 360 children though our Young Musicians’ Bursary (YMB) Scheme.
