Residents looking to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty The King on Saturday 6 May 2023 will not be charged road closure fees for street parties in Bromley, which will be processed free of charge.
Fees will be waived for road closures in association with street parties being planned between Saturday 6 May to Monday 8 May 2023. The application deadline for street parties celebrating the Coronation will be Monday 13 February 2023, which can be made through the council’s website.
Councillor Nicholas Bennett, Executive Councillor for Transport, Highways and Road Safety said “I am delighted we will support residents’ celebrations on this historic occasion by waiving fees for street parties across the borough and further plans will be announced in due course as we prepare to welcome in a new era for our country. Bromley has always been proud to celebrate major national events as we did in force for Her Late Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee this Summer.”
Those applying for street parties are encouraged to apply early to avoid disappointment and also to mention that the party is for the Coronation in your application. Whilst party organisers always need the council’s permission to hold an event on the road or pavement, fees only normally apply if a road needs to be closed, although not on this occasion.

Party organisers are not required to have public liability insurance cover for their event, but it is strongly recommended as your event would not be covered by the council’s insurance. However, organisers must ensure that certain conditions are met. These include the need for applicants to steward the event, having diversion and warning signs, with flashing lamps at each vehicle access point and being able to easily remove tables, chairs and other temporary objects to allow access for emergency vehicles.
