Bromley Central Library hosted thousands of visitors last night for a special Library Lates extravaganza, which saw live music, dancing, cocktail making, book reading and more!
The silent disco drew a large crowd of all ages, while musicians played throughout the night, entertaining with a mix of original and classic tunes. ArtsTrain gave performances from the talent of tomorrow with original songs and collaborations.
A particular highlight saw the enthralling Spark Drummers brave the rain to bring colour, rhythm and flair to the town centre, with crowds gathering to watch as they performed along the length of Bromley High Street.
Special guest authors Kate Lawler and Sandra Agard captivated the audience with readings from their latest books, while high spirits and laughter could be heard from the cocktail masterclasses, the business networking sessions run by Your Bromley BID and the Start Up Bromley market on the mezzanine above.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “This has been a hugely successful event that shows the type of excitement that a night in Bromley can deliver! Clearly local residents and visitors are keen to spend more time in our thriving town centres, so I thank GLL, our Library provider, for their support in hosting this. We are continuing to deliver such special events to further support local business and bring greater prosperity to our high streets, so look out for more excitement to come!”
High Street Fest is returning to Bromley town centre this Sunday from 12-7pm, bringing further entertainment such as live music, a gaming bus, a DJ chill out zone, smoothie bikes, street food and much more! Find further details at www.bromley.gov.uk/highstreetsforall.
In addition to this event, there will also be an interactive Celebration of Sports event on Tuesday 25 July, and a Winter lights spectacle in October. Alongside this entertainment, town centre improvements such as lighting upgrades will be delivered to ensure a welcoming high street is created.
The Library Lates event is the first in a series of exciting evening events that forms part of Bromley’s programme as one of London’s Night Time Enterprise Zones, enabling the town centre to boost activity after 6pm.
The Night Time Enterprise Zone will see over £250,000 invested in events and improved infrastructure in Bromley town centre with Bromley Council and partners, Your Bromley, collectively providing match funding to the grant received from the Mayor of London. The event programme is also being delivered in partnership with Greenwich Leisure Limited, Proactive Bromley and Your Bromley.
