An exciting evening of lively entertainment, sports activities and wellbeing offers is coming to Bromley, as ‘High Street Lates’ gets ready to take to the town centre.

The festivities will be held on Tuesday 25 July from 4pm to 9pm in a Sport and Wellbeing Festival that will have something to get everyone up and moving.

This free event is the much-anticipated sequel to Library Lates, which kicked off the BR1 Lates programme that is part of Bromley’s selection as one of the Mayor of London’s Night Time Enterprise Zones. Library Lates saw an evening of dancing, cocktail making, celebrity book reading and electrifying performances that saw thousands visit the town centre on a single night in April.

Crazy golf, a silent disco, and even a climbing wall will now be set up at High Street Lates for visitors of all ages to enjoy into the evening. Residents may even dare to take the furious Formula 1 simulator for a spin, while others may prefer to relax in the wellbeing zone, enjoy refreshments from the bar or dine on the tasty street food options. The event will also launch the Festival of Sports and Wellbeing Photography Exhibition, which will showcase a diverse range of local people taking part in a variety of sports and wellbeing activities.

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “This is set to be a fabulous evening that will highlight what is on offer in this great town centre, while also celebrating the borough’s rich sport and wellbeing offering. We have a proud history of sporting achievement, and many local clubs will be involved giving residents a chance to perhaps find the perfect hobby to grow into a lifelong passion! I thank our partners for their support with packing this evening with excitement and encourage all residents to come along.”

Nigel Court, Chair of Pro-Active Bromley, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this great event, which will see the high street come alive with residents of all ages enjoying a wide variety of free sports and wellbeing activities. Many of our partners from across the borough are helping to build this great programme. This collaborative partnership approach is what we are all about in Bromley, as we work together to get more residents up and active, including by creating fun and interesting opportunities such as this!”

London Night Czar, Amy Lamé said: “I’m delighted that Bromley’s High Street will once again offer locals and people from across London a varied evening of entertainment. From silent discos and tasty treats to a Formula 1 simulator, there will be something for everyone at High Street Lates. It is a great example of how the Mayor’s Night Time Enterprise Zones programme has helped to facilitate fantastic opportunities to make the most of our high streets around the clock and drive forward our economy as we build a better London for everyone.”

High Street Lates: A Sport and Wellbeing Festival, forms part of Bromley’s BR1 Lates programme that looks to bring more life to the town centre in the evenings this year. This follows Bromley's selection to be one of the London’s three Night Time Enterprise Zones, as part of the Mayor of London’s programme.

In addition to this event and the Library Lates event this April, Bromley town centre will host a winter lights spectacle in October. Alongside this entertainment, town centre improvements such as lighting upgrades will be delivered to ensure a welcoming high street is created.

The Night Time Enterprise Zone programme will see over £250,000 invested in events and improved infrastructure in Bromley town centre with Bromley Council and partners, Your Bromley, collectively providing match funding to the grant received from the Mayor of London. The event programme is being delivered in partnership with Greenwich Leisure Limited, Proactive Bromley and Your Bromley.
