Fascinating buildings and interesting spaces will open their doors across the borough for Open House Festival this September, with additional venues now being encouraged to take part.

The annual celebration of heritage and architecture takes place from 6 to 17 September with contributors now able to sign up their buildings or open spaces to take part. Last year over twenty attractions across the borough opened their doors to visitors as part of the free festival and it is hoped that Bromley will have an even greater involvement this year for residents to enjoy.

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “There is such fascinating history across the borough and thanks to ongoing efforts to preserve our heritage and architecture, there is no better way to experience this than through our great buildings and spaces. I hope residents, businesses and community groups with such interesting venues available will consider joining the festival and help create a truly immersive offering for residents and visitors to enjoy.”

Open House Festival is a celebration of design, history, and community, looking for a wide range of spaces to take part, including housing developments, factories, studios, green spaces and innovative or historic homes. The festival is about providing unique experiences or activities for visitors that can not usually be enjoyed or accessed throughout the rest of the year. Venues can be opened up for as much time as participants would like throughout the festival, from a few hours to a number of days, on either a free ticketed or drop-in basis.

The registration deadline is 11 August. Find out more online.

Bromley Council are a borough partner for Open House Festival and as well as hosting events will also share information about other participating venues with residents in due course.

Open House events are run with the help of volunteer stewards and guides. Find out more and get involved this year.
