Bromley’s multi-agency Ukraine Support Hub was open today on Ukraine Independence day, enabling Ukrainians from across the Borough to come together on this important day.

Residents who have opened their homes to a Ukrainian family, as part of the Homes for Ukraine initiative were also invited to attend the Ukraine Support Hub. Since the Homes for Ukraine scheme launched in March 2022, over 400 Bromley residents have opened their homes to guests fleeing the war in Ukraine, with the support continuing. The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Mike Botting, the Mayoress of Bromley, Councillor Kim Botting and the Deputy Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Keith Onslow attended the Hub today, with the leader of the council, Councillor Colin Smith also attending in support for Ukraine.

The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Mike Botting said, “On this day, when we stand in solidarity with Ukraine, we again thank Bromley borough residents who have shared their homes and supported the people of Ukraine in so many ways as well. That support has been steadfast as the war has also sadly continued and we have seen the very best of humanity, as well as a determined and resilient spirit, including from our Ukrainian guests.”

The Mayor continued, “There is a still a need for Homes for Ukraine hosts and if you could host a family now, we would very much like to hear from you, particularly as not all of our original hosts are able to continue. Your support, with a now locally settled Ukrainian family, could prove to be invaluable.”

The Ukraine Support Hub remains open each Thursday morning, with specialist advice staff on hand to give support and advice about a range of subjects, including employment, education, learning English and other everyday issues.
