Crowds gathered in their thousands to see mesmerising performers and stunning light up installations that had Bromley town centre aglow on Wednesday 25 October, for a night of local entertainment.

Friends and families came together to make the most of the darker evenings with a host of activities, journeying through light up tunnels and touching the enticing sensory spheres across the high street. Spark! LED Drummers proved especially popular with visitors, wowing the crowds with their dazzling routines throughout the evening. Residents also made the most of cocktail masterclasses, creating colourful drinks to match the glow-in-the-dark face painting that many had adopted for the evening.

Delivered in partnership with Your Bromley, the Winter Lights Spectacular was the third and final event of the BR1 Lates programme, which followed Bromley’s selection as one of the Mayor of London’s Night Time Enterprise Zones. Thousands have already attended the special Library Lates event in April and the Sport and Wellbeing Festival in July.

Your Bromley BID Manager, Frances Forrest said: “It was amazing to see our town come to life on Wednesday night for Winter Lights Spectacular. We were delighted that several businesses in the town centre, opened late too, making the most of the busy evening. It has been really exciting for Your Bromley to be involved in the BR1 Lates events this year and we hope visitors to the town have enjoyed these unique evenings.”

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “What an amazing finale for our BR1 Lates programme! I’m delighted that so many residents were able to attend and experience all that Bromley town centre has to offer of an evening. I want to thank our partners for helping to put all these events together, and all those who attended and showed their support for local businesses. I am sure there is plenty more excitement to come on our thriving high streets, so look out for more great nights out in Bromley in due course.”

London’s Night Czar, Amy Lamé, said: “Bromley’s BR1 Lates series, supported by investment from the Mayor of London’s Night Time Enterprise Zone programme, has been a huge success. Once again, residents and visitors were able to enjoy a fantastic evening of free entertainment at the Winter Lights Spectacular. This event was a wonderful example of how our capital’s high streets can come alive after dark, while helping to fuel the local economy. By working in partnership, we can build a more prosperous London for all around the clock.”

BR1 Lates has sought to encourage more residents to spend their evenings locally following Bromley’s selection as one of the Mayor of London’s Night Time Enterprise Zones. The Night Time Enterprise Zone programme is investing £250,000 in events and improved infrastructure in Bromley town centre including lighting upgrades. Bromley Council and partners Your Bromley BID are collectively providing match funding to the grant received from the Mayor of London.
