‘Any of Us’ is the latest film with a powerful message that ‘any of us’ with the capacity to care can become a foster carer for a child or young person, and help them to thrive.

Interested residents and others are being encouraged to apply to Bromley to become a foster carer.

The film is produced by a growing partnership of councils, including Bromley Council, and children’s trusts to promote local authority fostering, with foster carers needed for these vital caring roles. The film follows three very different people who all share some of the qualities needed to be a foster carer in incidents from their daily lives. Ayesha, Neil, and Marsha from the film are shown to be different individuals who are faced with difficult scenarios where each of them demonstrates the caring instinct that is fundamental to being a foster carer.

Chloe is the other character in the film and as the film develops it becomes clear that one of these three everyday people will become her foster carer. The main characters’ stories are all interwoven with Chloe’s as we see her journey into foster care, but which one of the three will be the one to make the difference?

Councillor Kate Lymer, Executive Councillor for Children, Education and Families said, “This extremely moving film serves as a reminder to anyone interested in becoming a foster carer that ‘any of us’ could be the nurturing bedrock of support and stability needed for a child or young person in Bromley to succeed and reach their potential. Foster Carers provide invaluable support to people as they are growing up and I do want to thank all our existing foster carers for their work as well. We do need more foster carers and if you would like to help this important work and are interested in becoming a foster carer do speak with our team to learn more about how Bromley Council can support you. We are happy help you understand more about this and answer your questions.”

With around 340 children looked after in Bromley currently, Bromley’s Fostering Team embarked on this collaboration project to create new ways to encourage more Bromley residents to become foster carers and join a community of carers who provide amazing support, encouragement and stability for vulnerable children and young people in Bromley.

Bromley’s Fostering Team encourages anyone interested in becoming a foster carer to get in touch to learn more about the support and training Bromley foster carers experience. The ‘Any of Us’ film is the latest in a series of films produced to reach out to potential carers and show how fostering can help a child to thrive.

Fostering relies on the collaboration of the council and residents to provide a network of support for carers and Bromley’s children so, residents and prospective foster carers who may have been thinking about becoming a foster carer for a while, or know someone who may be interested, are encouraged to visit www.bromley.gov.uk/fostering to learn more about fostering with Bromley, join the next Fostering Information Session, or contact the Bromley Fostering team on 0208 461 7701.
