Bromley trading standards is advising residents to be on their guard when looking for a locksmith.
Residents should be on their guard when looking for a locksmith, especially in an emergency, to avoid being overcharged, having unnecessary work, and struggling to get resolution.
We are grateful to the Master Locksmiths Association for information on spotting a rogue locksmith as well as a price checklist which are both available on their website.
Protect yourself:
- Use one of our own approved locksmiths at Trading Standards Checked.
- Get a quote for the service you require before you agree to the work.
- Don't rush - even in an emergency; a few minutes to research could save a lot of problems later. Research, read reviews, and check any claims of membership to trader organisations.
- Don't leave it until an emergency occurs - check out reliable locksmiths and keep their number to hand.
