Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts on the BR1 Lates events, which saw tens of thousands visit Bromley town centre this year for enjoyable evenings out.

Silent discos, high street performers, live music, and celebrity book readings were amongst the entertainment that had the high street moving. A particular highlight was the Spark! Drummers, who performed dazzling street theatre at two of the events.

Bromley town centre hosted the BR1 Lates events to encourage more people to enjoy Bromley at night, following its selection as one of the Mayor of London’s Night Time Enterprise Zones. Now feedback is being invited on BR1 Lates, with the Bromley at Night survey running until 6pm on 24 December 2023 at www.bromley.gov.uk/BR1Lates.

The entertainment all began with the Library Lates event in April, followed by the Sport and Wellbeing Festival in July and, most recently, October’s Winter Lights Spectacular. Alongside these events, investment in improvements such as lighting upgrades is also being delivered to create a more welcoming high street.

Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, said: “It is clear from the incredible atmosphere at all these events that residents are keen to enjoy great nights out in Bromley. I would encourage residents to respond to the survey as we want this momentum to lead to more evening entertainment across the borough and give a further boost to local businesses. It has been heartening to see the local community enjoy Bromley at night and thanks to all our partners who helped make this possible.”

Amy Lamé, London’s Night Czar, said: “We’ve been blown away by the incredible success of the BR1 Lates events organised in the Bromley Night Time Enterprise Zone. It was fantastic to see first-hand so many people flocking to the town centre and enjoying their high street after 6pm. I’m looking forward to hearing more about what people thought and how the success of the programme can be built upon for the future. The Mayor and I are dedicated to doing all we can to make London thrive at night and building a fairer and more prosperous capital for all.”

The BR1 Lates programme was delivered in partnership with Your Bromley, Greenwich Leisure Limited and Proactive Bromley, with Your Bromley and the council collectively providing match funding to the grant received from the Mayor of London.

Feedback is also being sought from businesses and night workers about the BR1 Lates programme.

Respond to both surveys at www.bromley.gov.uk/BR1Lates.
