The following open letter is the lead article in Bromley Council’s ‘Our Bromley e-newsletter’.

Dear Resident,

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas as the famous song says, thanks to so many residents and businesses joining in and doing their bit to ensure so many homes, businesses and streets across the Borough look so fantastically decorated.

We wanted to get in touch to remind you of the unavoidable service changes which have to be set in place at this time of year affecting your recycling and waste collection schedules. Building on from the details contained within the recent copy of 'Our Bromley' magazine, the details are also available on our website.

As Leader of the Council, I would like to thank you for your continued support and understanding over the past year. Especially so given the well-publicised financial problems which Councils are facing across Local Government at present, and the impact that inevitably threatens in terms of service delivery.

I would particularly like to thank Bromley's fantastic 'family' of Tree, Street, Park and Snow Friends' groups who do so much to make a difference in their communities as well as our Residents' Associations, Neighbourhood Watch groups and Bromley's outstanding Voluntary Sector, all of whom serve to make Bromley such a special place to live.

Finally, you may be interested to know that Bromley has been turning heads nationally with our innovative programme on tackling loneliness, with support available online: www.bromley.gov.uk/loneliness

I know many of you will be looking out for neighbours and others at this special time too and thank you for that as well.

May I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and a peaceful and prosperous 2024.

Kind regards and best wishes,

Colin

Councillor Colin P. Smith, Leader of Bromley Council
