A new, free interactive tool to help Bromley residents manage a healthy relationship with alcohol is live and available to try now.

For those considering their drinking habits, Lower My Drinking is a new addition to Bromley’s drug and alcohol support commissioned by Bromley Council. The service provides residents, who are aged 18 or over, help to identify the risks associated with their level of drinking alcohol and what actions they can take to help stay in control of their relationship with alcohol.

Dr Nada Lemic, Director of Public Health at Bromley Council said, “Lower My Drinking is a welcome addition to the tools and support available in Bromley to help residents keep control of their health in their own hands. The quiz is a great way to check your assumptions and perceptions of your alcohol consumption and the app is a handy tool to have on hand to bolster and help keep track of your progression towards lowering your drinking to a healthier level. Even small changes can make a big difference to your health, and support is available in several ways and in many forms so don’t hesitate to find what works best for you.”

Any residents who want to learn more about their own level of drinking and how this might affect their health can try the free, short, anonymised Lower My Drinking quiz to feel more informed and focused on their health and wellbeing. The quiz only takes a few minutes to complete and returns tailored information and tips to help keep your alcohol consumption under control, or to help reduce your drinking down to a healthier level.

Based on the results in the quiz, you may also be signposted to the Lower My Drinking app, available for free on the App Store and Google Play Store, which includes many helpful tools to help track drinking, set goals and motivational reminders, and help track progress in lowering drinking.

If you drink regularly, reducing your consumption even a little bit can be effective in helping to improve your health, weight, mood, energy levels, and can help you save money too.

For anyone with concerns about their own relationship with drinking, or that of a friend or family member, support is available to help you take control of your health. Try the Lower My Drinking quiz and app to help you identify which level of support is most relevant for you, and you can also find more information about support services that deal with drug and alcohol use on our health webpages.
