Figures from this year’s National Secondary Offer Day reveal that the majority of Bromley school children once again received offers from their preferred schools.

Just under 92 per cent of Bromley’s school children will be attending one of their top four choices of school, with just under 69 per cent offered their first preference. The figures demonstrate that Bromley Council’s continued collaborative working with the borough’s schools has ensured sufficient places to meet demand. Since 2020, the borough has seen provision increased by 150 places, equivalent to 5 forms. The results of successful first preference offers are the highest they have been since 2021.

Councillor Kate Lymer, Deputy Leader and Executive Councillor for Children and Families said, “It is an exciting time for young people, parents and carers, but can also be an anxious one as they plan the move to secondary school. I am pleased that the vast majority of young people in the borough will be able to attend a school of their preference. We want Bromley children to fulfil their full potential and with most of the borough’s schools rated Good or Outstanding, the future is bright for our young people.”

Councillor Lymer added, “There will always be a minority who are disappointment with the outcome, so I would like to remind those who perhaps received a school offer they did not name, that National Offer Day is only the first stage in the offer process. I would encourage these families to look at the ‘Next Steps Guide’ on the Bromley Council website which gives clear advice on what they can do next to help secure their preferred schools.”
