Members of staff from Bromley’s Adult Care sector have been recognised for their contributions and daily care in support of hundreds of residents across the borough at the Bromley Adult Care Awards.

Hosted by Bromley Council at the Civic Centre on 2 October, awards were presented to a wide range of organisations and members of staff to highlight the quality of care and vital support provided for residents, helping them to live their best possible life.

Councillor Diane Smith, Executive Councillor for Adult Care and Health said, “It has been an honour and a privilege to have taken part in this year’s Bromley Adult Care Awards.

“Many hours of hard work from our entire adult care work force here in Bromley goes into supporting residents to ensure that they are safe, well looked after and are able to live successful and fulfilled lives receiving the right support at the right time. The Bromley Adult Care awards shine a spotlight and give us the opportunity to celebrate and show our appreciation for people who work in our Care Services across the borough and is an important part of recognising and valuing the essential role that they all play.

“Heartfelt thanks and many congratulations to all our finalists and winners.”

Donna Glover, the newly appointed Director of Adult Social Services at Bromley Council said, “It was an absolute privilege to host this award ceremony in my fourth week at Bromley. I’m delighted to find that Bromley holds this annual event to celebrate the hard work of social care colleagues which has such a positive impact on our residents. The talent and dedication we saw during the evening is humbling and has made it very difficult to choose the winners for each category. Now, we start planning for next year’s event - I’m already looking forward to it.”

In all, nineteen awards were presented on the night including the fiercely contested Diane Smith Award for outstanding contribution to adult care in Bromley which was presented to Sarah Larden for delivering exceptional contributions of expertise, time, skills, facilities, activities serving a particularly broad community of beneficiaries, and delivering a sustained record of contributions over many years.

Other awards included: The Worker Award, The Team Award, The Manager Award, The Recruitment and The Retention Awards recognising the achievements of Day Centres, Domiciliary Care, Extra Care Housing, Learning and Physical Disability Services, Mental Health Services and Older People’s Care Homes in the borough.

The worthy winner of the Diane Smith Award, Sarah Larden, along with all the other award winners from the evening will be entered into the nominations for the Great British Care Awards for next year, a series of regional events throughout the UK celebrating excellence in the care sector.
