Bromley’s new Civic Centre building will soon house a state-of-the-art health and wellbeing centre, including a GP surgery, bringing a range of healthcare services to the heart of the town centre.

This welcome news will improve local health facilities and illustrates the successful partnership between the council and NHS and follows the official signing of the lease agreement. Bromley’s new health and wellbeing centre is a central feature of the wider strategy for the new Civic Centre site at Churchill Court which will become a focal point for local services.

The new health and wellbeing centre is being designed to provide accessible, efficient and integrated health care, with spacious consulting and treatment rooms. With its complete refurbishment, the centre will offer a modern and welcoming environment, tailored to meet a range of health needs. By using energy efficient LED lighting and modern heating, the centre is also designed to be an environmentally friendly space, focused on health, comfort and wellbeing. The Dysart GP Surgery from Ravensbourne Road will move to the new centre, bringing GP services closer to more residents and providing care in a modern and accessible setting.

The Leader of the Council, Councillor Colin Smith said, “The changes at Churchill Court are beginning to come thick and fast now and today’s fantastic news delivers on our long-held promise to help improve health facilities for local residents across the heart of Bromley Town centre and its surrounds.

“Through working closely with our health partners over a number of years we have developed a joined ‘One Bromley’ vision for both the centre and our residents who use it, which will also provide rental income to the council for reinvestment into financially challenged key local services.

“I know how many local residents will welcome this news, coming as it does within weeks of the council consolidating its own multi-million pound cost-saving move from the old Civic Centre.

“I look forward to seeing the health and wellbeing centre up and running at the earliest possible opportunity as we continue to look for further ways of strengthening our partnership working locally.”

Dr Angela Bhan, Bromley’s NHS Place Executive Lead said “I am delighted that through our partnership work with the council we will be able to bring these important services together, with all the health benefits this entails for residents. The vision for this new centre is about fulfilling long term health needs in the borough and ensuring services work efficiently and effectively together. Together we will provide joined up personalised care for our residents, in line with our One Bromley strategy.”

Following the lease agreement, construction and refurbishment works will begin in 2025, with further details about services and opening dates to be announced in the coming months.
