Bromley’s children in care were celebrated for their exceptional achievements and contributions at the 2025 Celebration of Achievement Awards.

Cllr Kate Lymer, Executive Councillor for Children, Education and Families said, “The Celebration of Achievement awards was a delightful experience again this year which makes us all extremely proud of the strides our young people have taken over the past year with the support of carers, social workers and staff from organisations across the borough.

“Helping our young people to achieve their dreams, goals, and potential is a key principle that guides Bromley Council in our role as corporate parents so to see our young people share and reflect on their experiences and achievements together was especially touching and inspirational. The joy on show at this year’s celebration was tremendous – I am already looking forward to the next one.”

This year, over 190 young people aged 5 to 17 received nominations from their foster carers, teachers, social workers, and key workers for awards in categories such as sports and academic achievement.

Held at The Warren in Bromley on 21 February 2025, the award ceremony was hosted and presented by Sally Kelly (Headteacher for Virtual School) with the awards being presented by The Mayor of Bromley Councillor David Jefferys, Cathy Lloyd Williams (Head of Service for Children Looked After and Care Leavers) as well as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Living in Care Council (LinCC) delivering a sparkling evening of lively fun and accomplishment.

Organised annually by the Active Involvement team, the awards event serves as an enjoyable day to mark on the calendar as something for our children and young people to look forward to, along with all the carers and staff from across multiple organisations, and an opportunity to come together to praise and highlight the incredible resilience, potential and achievements of Bromley’s young people.

This inspiring and often moving event highlights Bromley’s dedication and enthusiasm to celebrate the borough’s young residents and recognises the collective efforts and partnerships that help to form the foundations of support that help Bromley’s young people to continue thriving and succeeding.
