On 18 January 2023, the London Borough of Bromley confirmed a non-immediate Article 4 Direction covering the Knoll Area of Special Residential Character, to remove PD rights granted under Part 2, Class A of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended).
The Direction will come into effect on 14 February 2023. From that date anyone wishing to erect or construct a gate, fence, wall or other means of enclosure in that area will have to obtain planning permission first by applying to the Council. Doing the work without planning permission may result in enforcement action.
The permitted development right to maintain, improve or alter a gate, fence, wall or other means of enclosure will continue to apply.
