How to use the badge
The Blue badge holder must be present on the journey and the following concessions will apply:
- Parking on yellow lines (single or double) for up to three hours, except where a loading ban is in force indicated by yellow kerb markings. Please remember that the Blue Badge time clock must be set and displayed when parking on yellow lines or anywhere else where a time restriction applies to Blue Badge holders.
- Parking in on-street paid for parking bays and council operated car parks free of charge and without time limit unless signs indicate otherwise. In Bromley, there are designated disabled bays in all council operated car parks, but badge holders can use any bay within the car park, except bays designated for specific use, e.g., electric vehicle charging and motorcycles.
- Parking in on-street disabled bays in shopping and residential areas – even if a bay has been installed outside or near the home of a disabled resident, the bay can be used by anyone who holds a valid Blue Badge.
- When using the above Blue Badge scheme parking concessions, a valid Blue Badge must be correctly displayed on the dashboard with the expiry date clearly visible from outside of the vehicle.
Blue badge holders must not park under the following circumstances:
- Where the vehicle will cause an obstruction to traffic or pedestrians.
- Where there is a loading ban, during the times the ban is in force. A loading ban is shown by one or more yellow kerb markings with a plate saying when the ban applies. If you can't see a plate assume the ban applies 'at any time'.
- On school entrance zigzags during prohibited hours and on white zigzag safety markings.
- On the pavement (even with one wheel) unless there are signs indicating that it is permitted.
- On suspended meter bays, bus stops and places reserved for specific users, such as residents' bays or loading bays.
