Comments from parents attending the RPC workshops
What are you hoping to get out of the RPC workshops?
- To be a better mother/wife and be less stressed and calmer.
- How to reduce the conflict and acrimony in my relationship with the mother.
- Best way to parent separately.
- Anything to help my children's emotional wellbeing.
- Anything I do not know that can add to support my children's upbringing.
After attending the RPC workshops is there anything you plan to do differently?
- Listen more to my husband and children. Use the ‘I’ statements.
- Stop and think before I react.
- Stop, think, stay positive.
- When things get tough, take a look at the cards again.
- Use the skills we were taught, that’s both of us not just me!
What is the most important thing you have learnt at the 3 RPC workshops?
- Being a parent is the most precious thing in my life, so knowing how much the conflict hurt my kids was a real shock.
- Learning to reflect on the way we behaved helped us find better ways to talk about problems.
- I thought my child couldn’t see any conflict – but they did and they thought it was their fault, I was devastated, I had no idea.
- Changing the way we talked to one another was not that hard, the suggestions shared are working.
- Not to give up but keep trying, the cards are super helpful.
- Being able to talk to other parents who are also struggling was a game changer. We shared what worked, what didn’t and it was nice to know I was not alone.
- It has really boosted my confidence, not just talking with my partner, but anyone.
