Pay to park bays
When parking in a pay to park bay (whether on the road or in a car park) make sure that the vehicle is totally within the bay or, at the very least, all wheels are within it and not over the markings.
You should never park in suspended bays, as suspensions are arranged for good reasons, e.g., road works, gas leaks or other emergencies. Signs giving details of the specific bays and suspension period will be on display at the location. Ignoring a suspension may lead to the issue of a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). Never assume that you can park in a suspended bay because it is empty, as you may be liable for a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).
In all on-street pay to park bays and council operated car parks, except the Civic Centre multi-storey car park, you can only pay for parking using a mobile phone and your debit/credit. This is a quick and easy way to arrange payment of the tariff and you can extend your parking session without returning to your vehicle, except at some on-street locations where a maximum stay applies (- please check nearby signs for guidance.
Always ensure you have arranged your parking session through RingGo and received confirmation from RingGo that your booking has been successful before leaving your vehicle unattended, otherwise you may be liable for a PCN. Always ensure that you have entered the correct location details which you will find on nearby signs, and the correct vehicle registration. Mistaking numbers for letters in the format of a vehicle registration, such as the number 0 for the letter O is common. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have arranged your parking session correctly, otherwise you may be liable for a PCN.
